  2. Discuss the contribution of private sector in expansion of professional education.
  3. What do you understand by ‘commodification of education’? Critically discuss the social implications of commodification of education.
  4. Discuss the major challenges in higher education in India.
  5. What are the main objectives of ‘open and distance education’. Explain the role of technology in achieving them.

  1. ‘Schools perpetuate structural inequalities of power and access to resources.’ Discuss.
  2. Compare the role of education in nation-building in India with that in other countries.
  3. Critically examine issues of access, retention, and performance of students who avail the policy of positive discrimination.
  4. Discuss the influence of politics on education in a comparative framework.
  5. Critically discuss the main argument in Ivan Illich’s book, Deschooling Society.

  1. What is multicultural education?
  2. Open and Distance Learning is a means for bringing about equity in education.’ Discuss.
  3. What do you understand by ‘universalization of elementary education’? Critically examine government’s initiative to universalize elementary education in India.
  4. Discuss the challenges to higher education.
  5. Write short notes the following:
    a) Banking concept of education.
    b) Significance of education in knowledge economy.

  3. What is ‘knowledge economy’? Explain the role of education in knowledge economy.
  4. Discuss the critical concerns of educational reforms in SAARC countries.
  5. Write short notes the following:
    a) Commodification of education.
    b) General Agreement in Trade in Services and Education (GATS) and Education.
